Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our client's growing CPA firm. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day bookkeeping functions for multiple clients across various industries. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop), a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to manage multiple client accounts accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full-cycle bookkeeping for multiple client accounts, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and general ledger maintenance
- Maintain and reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and loan accounts on a monthly basis
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements (Balance Sheet, Profit & Loss, Cash Flow)
- Record and review journal entries while ensuring proper classification and adherence to GAAP
- Manage and review client books in QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop, ensuring accuracy and consistency
- Set up new QuickBooks files, chart of accounts, and bookkeeping workflows for new clients
- Clean up and correct historical bookkeeping issues within QuickBooks as needed
- Collaborate closely with CPAs and tax staff to support tax preparation, audits, and client reporting needs
- Communicate with clients to request documentation, clarify transactions, and resolve discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, firm procedures, and client-specific requirements
- Assist with process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy across client engagements
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional bookkeeping experience
- Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online and/or QuickBooks Desktop (required)
- Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, including debits/credits, accruals, and reconciliations
- Experience handling multiple clients simultaneously while meeting deadlines
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (basic formulas, reconciliations, data review)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience working with small to mid-sized businesses
- Familiarity with payroll platforms and third-party integrations (e.g., Gusto, ADP, Bill.com)
